Geobotanical walk. Olvena

During the proposed route we can find three different botanical environments.

Initially in the urban environment (in the village of Olvena) there is a copse of European Nettle trees (Celtis Australis) and in the streets and on the threshing plots Giant Fennel (Ferula Communis) and White Henbane (Hyoscyamus albus) can be found. As we go up to the Viewpoint we enter the Olvena Canyon environment (the canyon has been carved out of the limestone and sandstone rock by the River Ésera and is a catalogued Point of Geological Interest). Here we find rock-growing species, whose roots cling to the crevices in the stone, such as Ramonda (Ramonda myconi), Pyrenean Saxifrage (Saxifraga longifolia), Rue-leaved Saxifrage (Saxifraga tridacylites), Long-leaved Butterwort (Pinguicula longifolia), Prickly Juniper (Juniperus oxicedrus) and Phoenician Juniper (Juniperus phoenicea). The third environment is on the final part of the walk as we go through almond groves, small outcrops of Holm Oak (Quercus rotundifolia) and an impenetrable patch of Juniper (Juniperus oxcedrus).
