The route starts at the carpark in Salinas de Hoz. From there we take the track that leads to the cemetery. We carry on along this route and we progress up the right hand side of the “Barranco de Cuancas” (Cuancas Gulley), which lies between the “Cerro de la Torreta” or Torreta Hill (929 m) and the “Cerro de Platiello” or Platiello Hill (954 m). We go through typical Mediterranean vegetation with Holm Oak and Phoenician Juniper (Juniperus phoenicea), Rosemary (Rosmarinus oficinalis), Boxwood (Buxus sempervivens), Kermes Oak (Quercus coccifera), Gorse (Genista scorpius), Lavander (Lavandula angustifolia) as well as small rocky outcrops covered with Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) and various stonecrops.
Once on the higher ground a firebreak allows us to follow the ridge that unites the Torreta and Fuentelomacha Hills.
This linear route is 2.6 km long (5.2 kms there and back) with an elevation gain/loss of 180m.
On the western slope of this ridge, the predominant vegetation is Aleppo Pine (Pinus halepensis) planted to avoid slope erosion. We return to Salinas along the same route.
