Today we walk across the streets and vertical walls of Foz de Salinas, passing by Fuente de la Tosca de la Rata waterfall and the uninhabited village of Salinas Viejo. We will climb to the Col De la Osqueta, an exceptional mirror where you’ll enjoy an overwhelming panoramic view of the Pyrenees. On the descent to Agüero we will visit Foz de Pituelo and its stunning limestone cliffs and mysterious caves, before descending to this beautiful medieval village, located on the foothills of the impressive conglomerate walls of Mallos de Agüero, recently appointed Natural Monument. At this point, you can continue the route along the ancient Roman road to Murillo de Gállego, passing Peña Rueba. A walk through the streets of this medieval town is the right end to a wonderful stage going through “El Reino de los Mallos”.
We can reduce the stage if we decide to sleep in Agüero. There is only a fountain in Agüero, so we must carry enough food and water during the stage. The section of trail from La Osqueta to Corrales de la Rabosera has dense vegetation, so as the section descending towards Foz de Pituelo. They are sections where it gets quite hot, so it is recommended to avoid them in the central hours of the day, especially in late spring and summer seasons. In the section between Collado Picha and Foz de Pituelo, marked as Camino Natural de la Hoya de Huesca, there is a detour to the right that can go unnoticed (km 7). Be aware and pay attention to the GPS device. From Foz de Pituelo to Agüero, the route follows a series of trails and unpaved roads without signaling. From Aguero to Murillo we will follow the route marked as Camino Natural de la Hoya de Huesca.
