Today we get into the vertical universe of Reino de los Mallos by visiting the overwhelming Mallos de Riglos, recently appointed Natural Monument. A worldwide known group of conglomerate walls that became popular due to the long-standing climbing tradition existing in the area, dating from 1930s. The stage includes different trails. First, it goes to Riglos by crossing a footbridge over Gállego River and then combines two different paths that border its overwhelming and vertical walls. Along the first path called El Camino del Cielo, we will enjoy a wonderful viewpoint - not suitable for people suffering from dizziness. After, El Camino del Solano will lead us to La Pared de los Buitres, where lives one of the largest colony of griffon vulture of the Pyrenees. Finally, we will return to Riglos by the path called Barranco de los Clérigos that will lead us to the village surrounding its smaller conglomerate walls.
The stage can be shortened avoiding Camino del Solano and taking the path going straight to Riglos. On Camino del Solano detour, you’ll have to go straight.
The only fountains on the way are in the village of Riglos and in Barranco de los Clérigos, almost at the end of the stage and not visible (You must turn left). In the summer season, temperatures can be very high. It is important to carry enough water and avoid the central hours of the day.
The track passes by a series of cliffs. Be careful especially if there are children in the group. The trail runs next to bird nesting areas. Please, respect the animals.
