Today we get into the universe of prehistoric hermitages, often nestled on rocky outcrops, remarkable spots where nature and cultural heritage merge. We’ll visit the cozy village of Aniés, before ascending through a path that gets into deep forests and limestone walls to the hermitage of Virgen de la Peña, surprisingly located into a hollow formed by the nearby limestone walls. Then, we’ll descend trough the rough steep-sided ravine where the hermitage of San Cristobal - that still preserves fresco paintings on its walls - is hidden. A pleasant walk along the left side of the ravine leads to the hermitage of Santa Quiteria, close to the nearby village of Bolea, the end of the stage. Don’t forget to visit its extraordinary and splendid medieval church.
Today\'s stage does not have remarkable technical difficulties. However, the viewpoint of Virgen de la Peña Hermitage is not recommended for people suffering from dizziness. There are several fountains during the first half of the stage and the paths are often well defined. We must pay special attention on the detour going to San Cristóbal Hermitage as it might go unnoticed. There is usually mobile coverage along the stage. Is recommended to book in advice if you decide to stay in Bolea.
