Today we get into western Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park by visiting some of its most beautiful spots like the overwhelming Salto de Roldán, the vertical cliffs of Cienfuens and the beautiful valleys of Belsué and Nocito.
We depart from Nueno, from where we start the ascent to the village of Santa Eulalia de la Peña (1.123m), one of the highest villages of Southern Pyrenees. Then, we’ll get to the viewpoint of Salto de Roldán, where we’ll be impressed by the imposing walls of Peña Amán and Peña San Miguel, separated by the deep and narrow canyon of Las Palomeras created by Flúmen River. From the viewpoint, a path will lead us to Belsué Dolmen and a bit further to the spectacular cliffs of Cienfuens. We will cross the footbridge of Belsué Reservoir that we’ll border before reaching the uninhabited village of Lúsera, that still preserves its beautiful church and some houses that have been restored by some of its old neighbors. From Lúsera, we’ll cross Belsué Valley ascending to Pardina de Orlato before getting into Nocito Valley and start the descent to the beautiful village of Nocito, located at the foothills of Tozal de Guara (2.077m), the highest summit of Sierra de Guara.
Today's stage is long and demanding. You must start walking early in the morning as it can take between 8 and 10 hours. It is necessary to take with you enough food, since we cannot buy during the stage. The fountains are in the towns of Nueno, Santolaria de la Peña and Nocito. On the way, we can only take water once.
In the section between Cienfuens and Belsué we’ll walk through a series of tunnels. It is recommended to take a flashlight.
If we depart from Arguis, we must follow Camino Natural de la Hoya signs until we reach Lúsera, where the different tracks meet.
During spring and summer seasons it gets quite hot.
Please, remember to take enough water and wear adequate clothing as well as sun protection.
There is little mobile coverage in the section between Salto de Roldán and Nocito.
