Long distance stage through an area with a wonderful heritage. We leave Luesia taking the road to Uncastillo and after a short ride on the asphalt we head towards Pozo Pígalo by a wide trail running on the bottom of the valley, a well-preserved track popular for walking during the summer season. After visiting the waterfall, we’ll go back to the previous crossroads and will turn right entering into a valley that we must follow to the Medieval Towers of Sibirana, located on top of a rocky & steep hill forming an incredible silhouette. After visiting Sibirana, we must pay attention to the crossroads on the right in order to ascend to the Sibirana pass. At this moment we’ll enter in Petilla de Aragón, that belongs to the Kingdom of Navarre. Descending first by unpaved roads and then singletracks we will reach the main road below the town where Santiago Ramón y Cajal was born.
After a few meters riding on the road we must turn left taking the trail to Las Planas col, from where we will start the descent to Piqueras ravine and climb up to a gravel road where we must turn right. If desired, we can deviate a few meters and visit Roita castle, which can be accessed through a singletrack on the right. We will continue the way down for +- 1 kilometer before turning right and connect with the GR-1 trail leading to Sos del Rey Católico. We will have to cross at least two doors. Please, remember to close them after crossing. We will continue towards Convento de Valentuñana, from where we will be able to see Sos. After passing by Valentuñana, we will turn left and take GR-1 along an old roman road at the foot of this beautiful medieval town, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.
Refreshment:
