A demanding stage in the western area of Sierra de Guara that crosses Nocito and Belsué valleys. A stage with a high percentage of singletracks that will let us get into the deep forests of this remote area and get to know their villages, some of them uninhabited. The arrival in Arguis gives us a beautiful picture of a mountain village surrounded by mountains and water.
We leave Nocito by road heading north until we find a crossroads besides a wooden shelter. At that point we must cross the road and get into the trail going to Ibirque. We will visit Ibirque passing by its church and houses that still stand up. In front of the church, we find a sign indicating the way to Lúsera. We will descend 600 meters until we reach a ravine where we will take an ascending path on the right leading to Pardina de Ubieto. At a pine forest we will find a crossroads where we’ll turn left, descending on a beautiful trail – pay attention to the steps- to the bottom of the canyon. After crossing to Flumen river the trail continues to the beautiful Pardina de Ascaso. Heading north, we will continue along Camino Natural de La Hoya de Huesca trail / GR-1 towards Belsué. This section ascends and descends slightly by a terrain that is plenty of marls and bushes. We will go up along Belsue’s access road and just before reaching a water reservoir and a fountain, we will turn right connecting with the Camino Natural that ascends towards the pass where the set of houses of Mesón Nuevo are located. Then we should turn slightly to the left and follow Camino Natural trail to Arguis. First, it leads towards a light tower along a rocky section. Then, the last and beautiful section of the GR1 begins. It will take us to the town of Arguis.
Refreshment:
We'll find water in Nocito, Belsúe and Arguis. From Nocito to Arguis we must cross several ravines where horses can drink. Be aware that in the summer season -among others- they might be dry.
We'l find a few bars - restaurants in Arguis.
