We leave Sierra de Guara to get deep into the beautiful mountains of the Kingdom of Mallos. The stage begins crossing the village of Arguis to follow Camino Natural trail towards the tail of Arguis’ water reservoir, crossing Isuela River and going up to a crossroads. There we will leave Camino Natural and turn left taking a new trail leading to a fountain. We continue through the pine forest until we reach a crossroads with a nearby board that includes information about Las Calmas ice wells. We will turn right and we will go up to the next crossroads where we will continue straight ahead by a narrow trail along the gas pipeline. After approximately 700m we must turn right and take a different trail leading to a meadow. Then, we’ll take a path connecting with Camino Natural trail that we must follow until we reach Bolea’s ice Wells. After visiting them, we leave Camino Natural and turn to our right following a the trail leading to la Paúl de Aniés located next to a shelter and water tank. Pay atttention to the GPS device as it is easy to miss the right trail. There we will leave the main trail and turn left to descend an old path that connects with a short section featuring narrow winding curves that will take us under the walls of Petrolanga. There we will connect with a track that takes us in front of Loarre castle, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval castles in Europe. In the surroundings of the castle, we must take a PR trail running besides the castle’s south wall that will take us to Hípica la Querencia / La querencia horse riding club, next to the road. If we follow the road down, we’ll reach the campsite. Following a network of trails we can get to the village of Loarre where we will find more services. There is also accommodation in Santa Engracia de Loarre.
Refreshment:
There are a few sources of water on this stage. In the surroundings of La Paúl de Aniés there is a fountain where horses can drink. In winter, spring and later spring it is possible to find water in several ravines. Be aware that they might be dry in the summer / autumn seasons.
On the way, we must leave the track and head towards Bolea/Aniés in order to find food & drinks.
